Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Ishenaly Arabaev Kyrgyz State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of developing, strengthening and encouraging relations between the two institutions. Signing session took place on Friday, 20 December 2024 at 01:00 p.m. at EMU Rector’s Office building where EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Ishenaly Arabaev Kyrgyz State University Rector Prof. Dr. Aigul Abdraeva Tolokovna signed the protocol. Present during the signing session were EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, and the visiting delegation from the Kyrgyz State University.
In his speech, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that they convened to sign a collaborative protocol to strengthen the ties and partnership between EMU and Kyrgyz State University. Highlighting his confidence that the protocol would enhance collaboration in areas such as academics, student exchange, and research with Kyrgyz State University, Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed his pride in being part of this initiative. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also underscored that EMU is willing to engage in all kinds of cooperative efforts with Kyrgyz State University.
On the other hand, Kyrgyz State University Rector Prof. Dr. Aigul Abdraeva Tolokovna mentioned that her son and daughter-in-law are graduates of Eastern Mediterranean University which has fostered a deep personal bond with EMU. Prof. Dr. Abdraeva Tolokovna expressed her joy at visiting EMU and signing the protocol. She also highlighted her belief that the collaboration agreement between the two universities would not only enhance ties with Kyrgyzstan but also play a significant role in advancing cooperation between the two nations.
An Exchange of Presents Following the Signing Session of the Protocol
Following the signing session, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç presented Kyrgyz State University Rector Prof. Dr. Tolokovna a traditional Cypriot Lefkara work panel and EMU souvenirs. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Tolokovna presented Prof. Dr. Kılıç a souvenir unique to their university.
