A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and University of Turkish Aeronautical Association (UTAA) with the aim of fostering collaborations in education-training, research-development and societal contribution fields. The signing session took place on Monday, 14 October 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rector’s Office building where EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and UTAA Rector Prof. Dr. Rahmi Er signed the agreement. Present during the signing session were; EMU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, Coordinator of UTAA Foreign Affairs Office Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reza Aghazadeh and EMU Institutional Development and International Academic Affairs Office Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Cahit Ezel.
In his remark, Prof. Dr. Er conveyed their contentment on being at EMU and the forthcoming collaboration, noting that despite its young age, EMU has achieved significant success. Prof. Dr. Er congratulated both past and current administrations of EMU, as well as academic and administrative staff, for their contributions to these accomplishments, emphasizing that everyone played a part. Prof. Dr. Er also expressed confidence that the partnership with EMU would further enhance the standing of University of Turkish Aeronautical Association University (UTAA). Stating that the agreement would open the door to various collaborative efforts between the two institutions across multiple fields and acknowledging that they have consistently followed EMU’s achievements with pride, Prof. Dr. Er said that they have recognized EMU as the most respected and well-established institution on the island. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Er shared insights about UTAA, founded under Atatürk’s “The future is in the skies” motto. Prof. Dr. Er concluded by expressing his hope that this partnership would be mutually beneficial, asserting that the combined strengths of both universities would lead to even greater success.
Stating their excitement on collaborating with UTAA, an institution proved itself in the field of aviation and aeronautics, Prof. Dr. Kılıç provided information about EMU. Underscoring that EMU is an educational institution strengthening its state, Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed its belief that the collaboration protocol signed with UTAA would mark the beginning of steps that would continue to grow and expand internationally.
At the end of the signing session, Prof. Dr. Kılıç presented Prof. Dr. Er a traditional Cypriot Lefkara work panel. On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Er also presented a souvenir to Prof. Dr. Kılıç.
